So, it’s the 3rd of the month. Annnnd I need help with paying rent, due to a situation which angers me more than can be articulated. The money I would have had to cover it is not currently available, and I’m literally gearing up to raise war over it.

Rent’s already past due in my landlord’s eyes, but legally I have until the 5th - I am asking now only because I absolutely do not want to play with this man, and there are Reasons why I won’t be rooting him either.

Ariana Grande is darkening her skin and changing her features to look Racially Ambiguous to sell to a wider audience and it needs to be addressed

Black people, who invented hip-hop, jazz, and rock and roll, have long been tastemakers of American cool. In many ways, fashion, music, and slang are dictated by black people no matter how little credit they get for it..

In fact:

Thus, presumably, if you want to be cool and sell records, you ought to start acting black. In fact, it’s great if you’re not black and act black because you get the benefits of being cool without the baggage and limitations of being subjected to racism.

Its what the Kardashians, Iggy, Justin Bieber, Ariana, and alot of other celebrities do in order to rise in popularity as well as be accepted into the black community.

  Grande’s music is largely influenced by hip-hop and R&B, meaning that in order to build a fanbase, she needs to court listeners (ahem, black folk) with those musical preferences. Grande, who is quick to shut down any perceptions about her ethnicity being anything but Italian. Most people presume Grande is Latinx, not necessarily black, when mistaking her race, but I am here to tell you, most Latinos are part black, sis. 

Thus, for years, Latinx women have been sounding the alarm: Grande is doing brown face. Look at her tan!! Look at how she speaks! Look at her music!

The point is: Most of us don’t get to pick and choose which parts of blackness we get to have — only white folks seem to have that luxury. And we need to give her the SAME ENERGY we give the kardashians.

All my worst bosses have been small business owners — the problem isn’t the size of the business, it’s that the relationship is exploitative. When someone decides to be a capitalist, making money through their investments rather than through their labour, their position relative to changes in the city becomes fundamentally different. Gentrification, as an example: when rents go up, it means they make more money (rather than lose their home); when prices go up and rich people move in, it means a chance to sell luxury goods (while we work for minimum wage); when more police and surveillance come in, it secures your investment (while we get harassed and pushed out). i think before screenshotting and laughing at redditors you should look at the post or comment and ask yourself: does this sound like something a dumb thirteen year old would say? is this something a child would believe? reddit is unlike youtube in that the stupid things kids say on there aren’t always immediately recognizable as such, and while most of us on tumblr are able to see someone saying uwu and being a hardcore kinnie and intuit that they’re probably younger than us, the ways children are, well, childish on reddit are different than that, and it may take a cognitive leap before you realize that this “smooth brained idiot with terminal reddit disorder” is probably like half your age. not that it matters necessarily… but it’s good to practice the habit of being respectful towards people younger than you even when they’re being dumb.

If you have accounts like Facebook and Google +/Gmail, or any app that requires permissions to read & write your surface settings, then this is why it happens. Your default settings for location and other permissions (mic and camera) are enabled for constant read-write.

What does this mean?

You can toggle your permissions for these apps for conditions like Never or While Using App. Keep in mind that if you have apps opened up in the background of your phone, then you’re technically using them. Make sure to close them out completely when you don’t want to use them.

But why?

When you have your location permissions enabled for apps, this data is collected and used for targeted marketing. Google is the biggest offender.

The more you create accounts by using your Google or Facebook to login, the more active data collection you offer to these companies. Unfortunately, Facebook will never not offer you the chance to not have ads showing on your newsfeed. However, you can shut off channels of active data collection by signing up with an email address and a good ol’ password instead of using SSO (single sign on) with Google or Facebook.
